Pretty much on everyday Past RP experience: _Walburga on this game IC: 1.Character Name: Salazar Slytherin 2.Age/Birthdate: 25 - some decades before 1000 AD 3.Wand: 13 inches of unyeilding walnut with a Sea Serpent scale 4.Bloodline: Pureblood - Ancestor of the Peverell's-Gaunt's-Riddle's 5.Why this character: Similiar to Walburga, he was a secret interest in mind. I've eyeballed him along with Godric Gryffindor in some games, but never had the heart to play him. However, in this interesting setting and some new found confidence, I think I could proudly play him. 6.What is said about your character on the lexicon? If you changed canon facts, what did you change? Salazar Slytherin Appearance: In CS17, the statue of Slytherin was described as being "ancient and monkey-like." Based upon the image by Lightmaker from JKR's website (shown here), Slytherin is gaunt with a long grey beard and pale grey eyes. Canon, or artistic license? Only Jo (and Lightmaker) know for sure. Home: According to the Sorting Hat, Slytherin came from the fen. In the UK, fens are located in the eastern portion of England, East Anglia and in particular Norfolk which is North East of London. Skills: Slytherin was one of the first recorded Parselmouths and an accomplished Legilimens (JKR). Artifacts: A heavy gold locket carrying Salazar Slytherin's mark (an ornate serpentine "S"). The locket was inherited by Merope Gaunt Riddle, pawned during her pregnancy to Borgin and Burkes, purchased by Hepzibah Smith, and subsequently stolen by Tom Riddle upon Smith's murder (HBP20). Possibly also a clumsily-made gold ring with the Peverell coat-of-arms carved into the black stone (HBP4, HBP10, HBP17, HBP23) (see Horcruxes page for more information). Device: Snake. Colors: Green and silver. Salazar Slytherin believed that only pure-blood witches and wizards should be allowed to attend Hogwarts. He got into an argument with Godric Gryffindor about this and eventually left the school. There was a legend that Slytherin built a secret chamber somewhere in Hogwarts that only his true heir would be able to open. This chamber, called the Chamber of Secrets, contained a monster that would finish his "noble purpose" of killing all the Muggle-born students at Hogwarts. As Slytherin's heir, Tom Riddle did open the Chamber and released the monster, a basilisk. Harry Potter defeated the basilisk with the help of Fawkes the phoenix and the sword of Gryffindor (CS). (A/N - Pasted directly from the site) Pretty much I plan on keeping all the facts canon, just change the appearance so he doesn't look too much like a monkey. However, he's not gonna be a pretty boy. Tom Riddle Jr./Voldemort, Harry Potter for the sheer fact that he has alot of the characteristics Slytherin himself prizes. Any of the Founders and perhaps Albus Dumbledore himself. Herpo the Foul for creating the Basilisk. Bloody Baron for being around the time Slytherin was at the school. Hermione Granger for the sake of she is a muggle-born, bright and very important individual in history. Peverell brother's. 8.PB: Trent Reznor 9.Sexual Orientation: STRAIGHT 10.Personality: In believing that Hogwarts should only educate those that come from Pureblooded Wizarding family, any interaction with those of mixed blood or muggle blood shall be limited and without much concern. Don't expect polietnss from him, just disdain and maybe a desire for murder. Purebloods who have betrayed their kith and kin shall be given a partial ear to and then their punishment decided afterwards. Salazar is an educated soul, who doesn't mind losing himself in stacks of tomes and is not afraid to acknowledge such a fact. He also finds enjoyment in practicing new spells or experimental concoxtions on those he considers unfortuniate. So he does have little respect for life. Salazar does have a temper, which had been seen many many times while quarreling with Godric Gryffindor. 11.Family: Salazar vehemently does not go into detail about his family and the sheer fact that he is an only child. All he tells people is that the family is old, proud, prestigious and pure. Pure as the driven snow. Pure as he is and they taught what they could before he ventured on into the world to learn on his own. However, after he founded Hogwarts and then eventually left it, he fell into abscurity and settled down with a witch that he handpicked from the best of all the Wizarding Houses. With this witch, whose name is unknown for Salazar, if ever discovered, refuses to indulge in gossip about her. However, it's assumed that she is a proper, respectful wife and didn't cross him, nor did Salazar abuse her. Eventually, they had a family. The exact number of children born is unknown, but most believe they only had one child. Eventually, the line took on a new name of Peverell, then Gaunt and finally Riddle bofore ending with Tom Morvolo Riddle Jr. Fondly known as Lord Voldemort. 12.Personal History: The Sorting Hat said that Slytherin came from the Fen. Norfolk to be exact. North east from the modern day London, in an old castle in ruin today along the Yare river. There, in the cold, damp halls, the young Salazar walked. For the first few years, as he toddled more than walked, he was in his mother's company, clutching onto her dark skirts where-ever she went and with her, his educated started. She started to, at first, tell him oral tales of myth, magic, lore and fact and with these, she weaved the beginnings of his mind. After the age of seven, he was in his father's company then. Being able to read and write, he followed the magical lord down the stone corridors to his vast libraries and labratories, even down to the dungeons where enemies of the family were kept. Most were muggles who had been given the Slytherin's trouble and in front of Salazar's eyes, they were tortured and shown their proper place. That though yes, the Slytherin family was a family to fear, the muggles were in no place to challenge them. That they should never tell the local churches about the 'devil's' living in a stone estate along the Yare river. That their son speaks to snakes. Eventually, after much magical torture, their mind's broken, Salazar's father impaled some on stakes to be propt up in the courtyard or them thrown into the woods or the river to feed the wildlife around them. For years, Salazar watched this. When he was young, Slytherin recieved his wand in the company of his father and both of them, along with a caravan of teachers specializing in this and that, educated him. Though while he wasn't studying potions, charms, hexes, duelling or learning about the Dark Arts even before they were given that two letter title, Salazar would walk along the Yare river at night, not afraid of the populace. His father had done well in creating fear in their hearts. It was those nights that Salazar perfected his Parseltongue. That he would remove his shoes and wade into the water up to his thighs and touch the surface. He would let the water around him ripple and he watched as snakes glided across the dark glass like surface of the river, or up trees or over ground to come unto him. To them, he spoke privately. Their hissing whispers gave him all the information that he needed. These snakes told him about visiting witches and wizards in the area, some were potiental tutors, others were a waste of time. They also told him of the muggles that would soon fill his dungeons. They were his spies and he treated them respectfully, even brushing his finges along their scaley backs. Through an untold amount of time, Salazar walked the earth, sometimes returning to Norfolk to visit his family before vanishing again. Ultimately, in his travels, he came upon Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw. Their friendship was odd from the beginning. Each different than the other, but it was Salazar's differences that stood out the most. While the group remained close, chatting near the fire, Salazar would be found a little ways off, against a tree or sitting on a rock, brooding or observing. Watching each of them. More often than not, it was Godric himself in all his red haired glory, that tried to shed the brooding skin from the snake. Sometimes it worked and at times, they were an agreeable pair. Other times, they fought like a pair of wolverines, especially when the four of them decided to create a magical institution. That with all their wands together, they crafted Hogwarts and gifted the castle something from each of them. However, when it came to who they should fill the school with, once again it was loud, violent voices of Salazar and Godric that broke the peace. Poor Rowena and Helga could do nothing as the peverbial mountains shook and the skies fell as they yelled. As history states, Godric wanted all that showed some kind magical potiental to be educated while Salazar wanted only those of Pureblood heritage to attend Hogwarts. That it was the Muggles themselves had forced the four to tip their hand, pull back into the shadows and secretly create Hogwarts. It was because of the Muggles that they needed to weave the finest and strongest illusions and repelling charms to protect their most important masterpiece. Godric said that they owed the Muggles a great deal of thanks. Salazar laughed and told him to piss off. However, before Salazar waved them all off and left Hogwarts forever, he had gave Hogwarts one last gift. A hidden chamber hidden in a bathroom that only his heir could open. That only the one with Parseltongue, a trait only possessed by Salazar could whisper the right words to make the brass snake open its door and find the greatest prize of all. The Basilisk that would kill all Muggleborn children in Hogwarts. To finish his mission in life. Against the protests of the other two Founders, Salazar left Hogwarts never to return. Returning to Slytherin manor, his parents long dead, he brought back with him a wife and started creating that infamous Heir of Slytherin. 13.Samples. First Person: This has got to be the most unique situation I had ever been in. Just a moment ago, I was talking along the Yare River in search of a snake older than I was and then I was in the depths of some building that was foreign to me. I was alone, so slowly, I walked away from the portal that brought me here and along the rows created by the shelves that housed the most interesting of facts. Little orbs filled with a milky mist of people's memories. That and millions of scrolls. However, my exploration was cut short and I was escorted back to the school that shares my name. Now, I am standing on a staircase in the middle of a vast sea of moving paintings. I don't care that they turn and shift, I just stand there still as a statue with one had onto the banaster and take in all around me. The people in the paintings are gawking at me. Huddling together and pointing. It's distressing and annoying really. I glare at them and some even have the decency to retreat in fear. I smirk. I am very pleased. Third Person: The Common rooms under the lake were not as Slytherin remembers them. The tapestries were different and the carpeting was all wrong. It was as if someone went back after he left and changed it. But why? He had the dungeons done to his specifications. At least the chair was comfortable. Sinking down into the plush green cushion of the high backed chair, turned towards the fire that burned brightly in the large hearth, Slytherin sunk down and crossed his legs. Letting his dark hair trail over his eyes, long nailed fingers tapped idly on the wooden molding that decorated the arm rests. A snake. Of all the emblems. Frowning to himself, he let the tips of his fingers trace around the sculplture, caressing the top of their heads gently as if they were revered pet. They were. In any form, the snake was revered to him. Sitting up suddenly, Salazar was on his feet and out the door to the dungeon. Striding purposefully out of the dungeons and up the stairs, he ignored anyone's questioning faces as he moved swiftly up the hall. Surely, Salazar Slytherin was up to something and with quick, long strides, he arrived to the second floor and took pause. Looking around a moment, he moved quietly towards Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Glancing over both shoulders, he pushed open the door and stepped inside. Letting it fall closed behind him, Slytherin eyed the gloom and darkness. Somewhere in the distance, he heard the faint sound of crying. Cocking his head to the side, he inched his wand out of his sleeve and put it behind his back. Moving stealthfully towards the stall the crying was coming from, he touched the door and pushed it open, only to gasp and cry out when he was drenched in toilet water and an enraged ghost bouncing around the room. Backpeddling, Salazar ran his hand down over his face, wiping away the water as he came face to face with a chubby cheeked, glasses wearing, pig-tailed ghost that demanded why he was there. 14.Who does your character support? Riddle/Magic - He wants the Muggles completely out of the magical society and Hogwarts under Pureblood law. Which will be interesting when learns Riddle is a halfie. | |||||||||
